Intensive course to prepare for the EPD (Supplementary German exam) am VWU (Preparatory course at the universities of Vienna)
We offer you one Preparatory course with intensive training and lots of practical exercises. Daily Monday to Friday from 15:00 bis 17.30 Clock. The focus is on written production and the first grammar part of the exam. The two weeks with hers 30 Lessons have a price of € 240.-

Registration for the EPD at the VWU
The EPD takes place at the VWU. Registration only takes place at the VWU at the specified times.
The VWU currently has on-site exams for the written part (personal presence) planned.
If the written examination is not possible in person due to COVID regulations, This means that it is no longer necessary and there are extended and extended oral examinations. This will be exclusively digital (via video conference) taken off.

Is there a test exam??
A model test was provided for the online exams. TheOnline sample test of the VWU can be downloaded here.
You can perhaps also prepare with the VGUH EPD model set (Graz). However, the tests differ in some details. The OeAD provides one Download the EPD model exam ready.
How often can you repeat the EPD??
The EPD is assessed in grades: 1 (very good), 2 (gut), 3 (satisfactory), 4 (enough), 5 (not enough). The grade 5 means, that the test is negative. You can then repeat an exam a maximum of four times.
Which topics come to the EPD??
There is a list of topics developed by the VWU-Wien. During the exam there is a specific input text on the topic. You should be able to present and justify your own opinion, Pro- and be able to weigh up counter-arguments, about Vor- and disadvantages being able to speak and write, contribute your own experiences on the topic, Be able to make suggestions and develop ideas and describe the situation in your home country or Austria and make comparisons.

How is the EPD structured??
The EPD lasts 180 minutes. You are allowed to take and use a monolingual dictionary for the exam.
Part 1 – Grammatik
In the first task, sentences in nominal style should be verbalized. In the second task, sentence beginnings must be continued, where you should write on a given topic.
Part 2 – Write
Free opinion on a topic – You can choose from two different topics. The input text is, for example, quotes or various statements. You will also be asked questions.
Part 3 – reading comprehension
Here you get two or three texts and different types of comprehension tasks.
How is the oral exam structured??
If the written part of the exam is positive, you can take the oral exam. The examination committee consists of three people.
Task 1
During the preparation period you will be given two tasks on two different subject areas, from which you can choose one. The input text is, for example, a graphic, a statistic or a short reading text. You now have 20 Minutes to prepare for an approximately five-minute presentation, a monolingual dictionary is available. You are allowed to take notes and use them during the oral exam. But you should always speak freely.
Task 2
After your presentation, you will receive an impulse, such as a picture, directly during the exam, a headline or a quote. You should have a spontaneous conversation about this.
